How Much Do Google Ads Cost in the UK? (2026 Pricing Guide)

Google Ads in the UK typically cost £0.40 to £6 a click, with most small and medium businesses spending £500 to £5,000 a month. Competitive sectors like legal can reach about £15. You set the budget: Google charges per click, it can spend up to twice your daily budget on a busy day, and your monthly cap is your daily budget times 30.4.

That's the answer. The rest of this page explains how the billing actually works, not a US pricing dump.

How the bill actually works

Every click comes from an auction. When someone searches, Google runs a real-time auction between advertisers bidding on that search, and the price you pay depends on the competition at that moment. That's why there's no fixed price list: a click costs what other advertisers are willing to pay for that search.

You control spend with a daily budget. Two rules matter:

Google can spend up to twice your daily budget on any single day. If demand is high on a Tuesday, a £20 daily budget can spend £40 that day.

You'll never pay more than your daily budget times 30.4 in a calendar month. Overspending days are balanced out by quieter ones, so a £20 daily budget caps at £608 a month.

For most SMEs the practical floor is £15 to £30 a day. Below that you're not buying enough clicks to learn what works, and the account never gets out of first gear.

Almost every SME pays on the cost-per-click model: you're charged when someone clicks your ad, not when it's shown. One more thing worth knowing: Google scores the quality of your ads and landing pages, and a higher Quality Score means you pay less per click than a sloppier competitor bidding the same amount. Well-built accounts genuinely cost less to run.

What that looks like in practice

Premier Gas, a heating and plumbing firm we work with, gets leads from paid advertising at £22 each. As Chris put it: "From start to finish Jeremy has been able to guide and advise me through the whole process."

What you pay us vs what you pay Google

Two separate bills: our PPC management starts from £950 a month as a single channel, and your media spend sits on top of that, billed directly by Google, not by us.

Is Google Ads worth it?

It's worth it when three things are true: the value of a customer comfortably covers what a lead costs you, your conversion tracking actually works, and someone is actively managing the account. Miss any of the three and the budget leaks. Get all three right and you have a channel where you can see exactly what a customer costs to acquire.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Google Ads cost per month in the UK?

Most UK SMEs spend between £500 and £5,000 a month. You control this through your daily budget: Google can spend up to twice it on a given day, but your monthly maximum is always your daily budget times 30.4.

How much does Google Ads cost per click in the UK?

Typically £0.40 to £6 per click. Competitive sectors pay more, with legal reaching about £15 per click. The exact price is set by auction, so it depends on who else is bidding on the same searches.

What is the minimum daily budget for Google Ads?

The practical floor is £15 to £30 a day. You can set less, but you won't buy enough clicks to generate steady leads or give the account enough data to improve.
